Hi Family! So I know everyone's excited about going to Cass' wedding in September and I am definately looking forward to being able to catch up with everyone, some of whom I haven't seen in many years. So to try and organise our holiday more efficiently I have used this awesome networking site www.tripit.com which allows you to keep all your travel plans in one place. Basically you can either manually enter in or automatically import in all your travel details such as flights, rental cars, accommodation, train/bus bookings, dinner reservations, tours, maps, directions, weather etc, the sky is your limit with this site. What you enter in can either be confirmed/purchased bookings or just suggested plans to further investigate. You can also have multiple trips that you're planning at any time so it's great for people who have a busy social calender as you can put in all of your upcoming trips/events so everything's in the one place.
What I love best about TripIt is that you can share your plans with friends and family for them to view or you can give them editing rights to be able to add their plans or suggestions to your trip. There are three different ways you can share your trip: either by making a public link so anyone (either travelling or not) can view your trip via the web; or you can share it through Facebook/Twitter/or LinkedIn which I have done on Facebook; and you can also send an email to people with a link to your trip for them to sign up and when you send the email you have the option to give them editing rights if you want them to be able to comment on and/or add to your trip and you can also determine wether they are a traveller on the trip or not as well as suggesting that they become a TripIt connection with you if they aren't already. Another bonus with this using TripIt is that you can sync your trips into your calender and there is also an app for your phone so you can access your plans wherever you are.
I have found the site very easy to navigate through and easy to use so I hope you will all have a go and help organise this trip with me so we can all have an awesome family holiday.
